In 2006 the National Education Association of New York Awarded Darrell Scott and Rachel's Challenge the "Catharine Barrett Friend of Education Award"

Rachel was awarded the Acts of Kindness Association 2001 National Kindness Award for Student of the Year

"For the legacy of kindness left behind by 17-year-old girl, killed during Columbine High School shooting"
